BYD Atto 3 specs and dimensions

The BYD Atto 3 is a compact electric SUV on BYD's e-Platform 3.0, 4,455 mm long with a 2,720 mm wheelbase. The 2026 Atto 3 Evo, sold in Australia from September 2026, keeps those dimensions and changes the powertrain.

Dimensions and weight

The body did not change size between the classic Atto 3 and the Evo. Length is 4,455 mm, width 1,875 mm, height 1,615 mm, and the wheelbase 2,720 mm. BYD's brochures give a ground clearance of 175 mm unladen and 150 mm laden for both the classic car and the Evo.

The Evo Premium is 130 kg heavier than the Dynamic, but it tows twice as much braked: 1,500 kg against 750 kg. Its rear motor also frees the space for the 101 L frunk.

Powertrain

The classic Atto 3 uses one front motor rated at 150 kW and 310 Nm, with an LFP (lithium iron phosphate) Blade battery of 49.92 kWh or 60.48 kWh. The Evo Dynamic keeps that layout and the 60.48 kWh pack. The Evo Premium moves to a 230 kW rear motor and a 74.88 kWh pack, and it is the only Atto 3 in Australia on the 800-volt version of the platform.

The largest change is DC charging. The Evo Premium's 220 kW peak is two and a half times the 88 kW of the last classic Extended Range cars. An all-wheel-drive Evo with 330 kW is sold overseas, but BYD does not offer it in Australia.

Tyres

The 2024 update in Australia replaced the original 215/55 Atlas tires with 235/50 Continental EcoContact 6 tires. BYD Australia's 2025 spec sheet lists 215/60 R17 tires on the Essential and 235/50 R18 tires on the Premium. For the Evo, BYD's brochure lists 235/50 R18 Continental EcoContact 6Q tires on both variants, and the owner's handbooks also list 215/55 R18.

Spare tyre

BYD's brochures list a tire repair kit, not a spare wheel, as standard on both the classic Atto 3 and the Evo. The Evo handbooks place the kit in a tool box under the trunk cover flap, with the warning triangle and the tow eye.

Tyre pressure

BYD's 2022 owner's manual gives 250 kPa (36 psi) for the classic Atto 3, on every listed tire size. The Evo Dynamic handbook also gives 250 kPa, and the Evo Premium handbook gives 270 kPa. The figure for a specific car is on the tire placard inside the driver's door. BYD advises checking pressure cold, after the car has been parked for at least three hours or driven less than about 3 km.

Checking a specific car

Battery size, charging rate, and towing figures changed across model years, so the brochure for the exact car is the reliable source. For a used car, the model year matters as much as the badge. The variants page maps each version to its hardware.
