The two variants differ more than the $5,000 gap suggests, because the Premium also moves to an 800-volt system with 220 kW DC charging. The Evo page covers the changes from the classic car.

Price

The list price leaves out stamp duty, registration, and CTP (compulsory third-party) insurance, which vary by state. In Victoria, the drive-away prices are $45,919 for the Dynamic and $51,129 for the Premium. The price page covers drive-away costs, novated leasing, and runout deals.

Essential and older models

The Evo replaced the Atto 3 Essential ($39,990) and the classic Premium ($44,990) in September 2026. Some dealers still list new runout and demo cars of both. Used cars from 2022 onward are also common, with Carsales indicative values from $24,200 for a 2022 car to $35,800 for a 2025 car in April 2026. The buyer's guide compares the new, runout, and used options.

Safety

The Atto 3 holds a five-star ANCAP rating from 2022, which covers cars built from 21 November 2022. Earlier cars are unrated unless BYD's updates were applied. CarExpert reports that the Evo carries the same rating, although ANCAP's own page lists only the classic variants. The safety page covers the ANCAP and Euro NCAP results.

Warranty and servicing

BYD Australia covers the Atto 3 for 6 years or 150,000 km, the high-voltage battery for 8 years or 160,000 km, and the drive unit for 8 years or 160,000 km. Servicing is due every 12 months or 20,000 km. On the pre-Evo car, a minor service costs $165 under BYD's capped-price program, and Evo service prices had not been announced when this page was checked. The ownership page has the full costs.

Home charging

By Zecar's figures, charging the classic 60.48 kWh car at home takes about 28 hours on the 10 A portable cable and under 9 hours on a 32 A wallbox. The Evo Premium can also charge at 11 kW on a three-phase supply. The charging page covers public DC charging and V2L.

Reviews and known issues

CarExpert rated the Atto 3 Very Good in 2022 and 2024, and EV Central gave the 2025 Premium 4 out of 5. Reviewers report real-world range of about 370 to 380 km from the 60.48 kWh battery. The car has had one Australian recall, issued in 2022. The review and common issues pages cover both in detail.
